![]() At a time when aging government rice sat unused in storage facilities, Chairman Neung-gu Lee asked a simple but unconventional question: Could this rice be transformed into noodles? After countless trials and failures, he ultimately succeeded in developing rice noodles— and went on to persuade the government to establish a distribution system that utilized surplus rice stocks. This innovation not only revitalized domestic rice consumption, but also laid the foundation for Korea’s rice-based processed food industry. In recognition of these contributions, Chairman Lee was awarded the Stone Pagoda Order of Industrial Service Merit and the Order of Civil Merit, Seokryu Medal. What was once destined to be discarded became the cornerstone of a national industry— an achievement born from the unwavering determination of a single individual. ![]() |
